The perfect mojito cocktail.
Mojito – that’s all you need to say, and it’s understood by everyone what it stands for. It’s not only one of the world’s most loved cocktails but also one of the top-selling cocktails across the globe. It practically has nothing fancy about it. Made with just the simplest of ingredients, and yet it’s a chart-topper when it comes to cocktails. This could be the reason why people still prefer the Mojito.
Why is Mojito so loved?
What makes the Mojito so loved? when there are so many path-breaking cocktails with some crazy ingredients and techniques. Yet this one classic cocktail is still preferred the world over. There has to be a reason why it still stands as one of the top-selling cocktails. And to top it all, it’s so simple, it could also be made at home. Someone has to conduct research here and let us know. But if you ask me, there just seems to be a connection between people and mojitos.
The alliance between Mojito and the people is astonishing. Coming to think of it, in layman’s terms, it’s just fresh lime soda with mint. Maybe this is where they have brilliantly bridged a strong connection with the cocktail ( mojito ). It’s such a simple cocktail that most have an idea of how it’s going to taste. This could only mean, no one is looking for any surprises. You could also say that they are quite comfortable with the taste profile. To get away from the confusion of the mind-bobbling ingredients that the other cocktails have to offer, a mojito is the answer.
Mojito cocktail and bartending
I must have churned more than 1000s of mojitos during my initial bartending days. Initially, it was super fun to begin with. But after I reached churning 1000 plus Mojitos, I was just bored of it 😉 . But none seemed to be bothered, and like a good bartender, I just went on and on, the same story continues to date. No complaints, though. I still kinda enjoy it, especially when you’re handsomely paid for it.
It’s not hard to understand why Mojito is the top-selling cocktail. The whole idea of the cocktail is to keep it simple. Well, that’s the same tagline we follow here at Cocktail Monk. Now you know where we draw our inspiration from, lol. As simple as it sounds nonetheless, it’s one of the most refreshing cocktails out there. Once you are above the legal drinking age and till you are a great-grandfather ( if you manage to live that long 🙂 ) you could always go for a Mojito. You might, but the Mojito will never run out of fashion.
Mojito cocktail ingredients
- White rum
- Mint
- Lime
- Sugar
- Ice
- Soda
Equipment
- Muddler
- Barspoon
- Measuring jigger
- Tall glass/collins
How to make a Perfect mojito
- Add 4 lime wedges along with 2 bar spoonsful of sugar to a tall glass
- Take around 10 mint leaves, tap them, and drop them in the sake glass
- Gently muddle it and half fill the glass with ice
- Now add 50 ml of white rum to it
- Fill the glass with ice and top it up with not more than 10 ml of soda
- Garnish it with mint leaves
When life throws a lemon at you, add some white rum, sugar and mint and make yourself a Mojito of it. Because its hard to beat a perfect mojito cocktail.
